Description Columbia University in the City of New York is seeking a Desktop Manager.

Supervises daily activities of desktop/AV technicians on the team. Provides hands-on technical troubleshooting and support for Mailman faculty and staff. Liaises with desktop techs campus-wide.

Responsibilities include:

Supervises desktop support team's daily activities -- assigns work tickets and coordinates work flow; Provides reports to dean on ticket activity; logs attendance; performs performance evaluations; recommends team traiinings; works with ass't. dean and team to prioritize larger IT projects.

Keep up-to-date on computer issues and smartphone, including security, new and obsolete products; Builds collaborative relationships with Mailman/CUMC/CU IT tech staff; keeps abreast of University IT desktop policies and practices; Participates in meetings, committees at University IT level; Runs Mailman's IT Summit.

Troubleshoot/debug computer and smartphone problems

Set-up, configure, maintain and upgrade software and hardware for smartphones, PCs & Macs. Evaluates software and works with team to manage image library; identifies and rolls out tools to make desktop support team more productive.

Work with Core Resources and Server support to ensure that the School's faculty and staff have the network access they need to be productive.
