The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition conducts research studies that study Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) and Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) in pediatric patients. The Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis Clinical Research Network (NASH CRN) is a multi-center study funded by NIH and is sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) to focus on the etiology, contributing factors, natural history, complications, and therapy of NASH and NAFLD. Columbia University is one of nine sites involved with this study. The coordinator will be responsible for overseeing an observational study and follows research subjects for up to four years on an annual basis, as well as a multicenter randomized clinical trial to evaluate the treatment with delayed-release cysteamine in children with NAFLD. The Research Coordinator supports the clinical research efforts of the Division of Pediatric G.I., Hepatology and Nutrition under the direction of the Principal Investigator. The coordinator will provide all aspects of protocol management, including recruitment of research subjects, screening for patient eligibility, data collection and analysis, ensuring protocol compliance, adverse drug reaction reports, monitoring patient treatment and toxicities, laboratory and specimen submission, maintenance of accurate and complete clinical research files, and assistance with Human Subjects submissions, and other duties as assigned.
