The Position:
Reporting directly to the AVC, Colleges, Housing and Educational Services (CHES) the Director is the Chief Financial Officer for the unit and provides general oversight of the unit's capital management and deployment and debt and capital obligations. Specific responsibilities include budgeting and fiscal management, human resource management, analysis, long-range planning and business-operations management.

Responsible for the administration of CHES' financial resources; including monitoring spending patterns in accordance with campus and UC best practices and policies. Administers funds from a variety of sources including: University of California Housing System, Santa Cruz Housing System, auxiliary funds from housing, California Department of Education contracts and grants, private gift funds, education fees, student services fees, and user fees. Provides oversight and direction for the Housing Rates, Recharges and Fees Committee in analyzing all University Housing rates and recharges and recommending the annual room and board rate structures.

Directs the housing debt capacity model, including debt and capital obligations, and consults routinely with the AVC and campus executive leadership regarding debt capacity issues.

Oversees development model for producing long-range (10-15 year) forecasts of revenue, expenses, and reserves for the unit. Provides leadership on long-range contingency planning, organizational development and operational research in support of financial objectives as needed.

Reviews and articulates the Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) and compliance issues, specifically bedspace compliance.

Provides oversight for development, implementation and review of human resource policies and procedures.

As the Culinary Specialist at Moreton Fig, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the quality of food produced in our kitchen and ultimately the overall experience extended to visitors, students, faculty and staff on a daily basis. The Culinary Specialist primarily performs food preparation according to recipes or instructions. In addition, the Culinary Specialist will partner with the restaurant staff to ensure the safety and sanitation of our facilities are in compliance with federal, state, local and university standards.
